Wedding Cards: Size, Wording and Common Mistakes

Wedding Cards: Size, Wording and Common Mistakes

Pro Gallery Team·September 28, 2026

A successful wedding card tells the guest when and where within two seconds, and shows him how to confirm without asking anyone. Everything else is decoration. This guide covers size, line order, and the mistakes that repeat every season.

The right size

For a printed card, a common size sits near twenty by fifteen centimetres, on thick uncoated stock so fingerprints do not show. For a digital card, portrait is the correct choice, because the guest opens it on a tall screen. A landscape card arrives small and forces him to pinch and zoom.

Line order, top to bottom

  1. Host name and the occasion.
  2. Day, date and time, set large.
  3. Hall name and district.
  4. Map link and the confirm button.

This order follows what the guest is looking for, not what you want to say. A verse or a line of poetry is lovely, but it never outweighs the date in size.

Four repeated mistakes

  • Giving the Hijri date alone, so some guests miscount by a day.
  • Printing the dinner time instead of the reception time, so everyone arrives late.
  • A hall name with no district and no map link.
  • A decorative typeface that reads well on a laptop and not at all on a phone.

One card or a card per guest

A single card sent to everyone is easy, but it travels beyond your list and tells you nothing. A card addressed to the guest lands harder and organises the night better. That is how Pro Gallery invitations work: a card per guest carrying his name and his entry code, while you keep full control of the wording, colour, typeface and layout.

The two-minute test

Before you send or print, hand the card to someone who had no part in designing it, take it back after two seconds, and ask them the day and the venue. If they hesitate, the problem is the order, not the taste.
